Road Trip Snacks/Foods

We are getting excited about an upcoming vacation to Lake George.  I've been starting to prepare a bit of snacks for our trip.  While I have every intention of enjoying delicious and maybe not so nutritious meals out from time to time, I know our bodies and they crave good for us foods.

First up?  These bad boys!  I remember years ago Joe meeting a guy who had his hands in on the actual making of these.  We had a taste and they were SO good.  Had to grab them when I saw them!

I'm in an amazing accountability group where the girls share food and recipe ideas. I totally hit up Amazon for these!  Brooke likes the fruit bars and Bradley loves the sqaure bars.  I haven't tried the power snacks yet, but I love me some Justin's maple almond butter!

I'm on that mom who believes in eating as healthy as possible, but real life and simple snacks that kids will eat happen too.  Bradley loves these tomato basil lentil bean snacks, the mac and cheese is an SOS meal if the kids don't eat their dinner or are starving.  Quick oatmeal in case of breakfast meltdowns before we leave the hotel.  Brooke loves the chocolate organic pop tarts.  PBJ --because, peanut butter and jelly is always an easy go to.   Rice cakes and quest bars for me.

Apples, mint milanos & graham crackers.

My friend Ann told me about these delicious waters!

We are bringing our Ninja and going to make these happen and sip them by the pool one day. #vacay

Can't leave without this yummy drink!

My sweet friend Shelby gifted me this adorable cooler bag with my monogram.

It will be perfect to keep my cans of rose cold!

I'll also throw in deli meat, cheese sticks & yogurt tubes.  I may be overpacking but I'd rather have too much than not enough.  Been there done that before and it's no fun!!

Bring on the loose schedule, family time, beach and poolside fun!

What healthy-ish snacks do you bring on road trips?

Flashback Friday {in Vegas}

Friday morning we woke up and had a little more of the conference to wrap up.  I was really looking forward to hearing this speaker; I got to meet her Thursday night and she was AWESOME!

She's a recovering alcoholic and really just an all around amazing go-getter.  We each got a free copy of her book, Snap Yes and I need to just sit down and read it.  I spoke to her of my dreams of writing a book and she told me to just do it. Stop making excuses and write.  I will write it I promise!

After we said our goodbyes, we headed over to the strip to check into our hotel room at the Aria.  We hadn't been to Vegas since all of the construction had finished, so we were SO excited to see all of it.  We waited in a bit of a line to check in, only to find out we were in the wrong place because SOMEBODY was being super sneaky and upgraded our room to a suite!! We had our own check in area and walked into the room to see this...

It was the most luxurious hotel room that I have ever stayed in.  We could not believe the views and the amazing amenities.  I was totally shocked and could not being he pulled out all the stops.

I wish we had more time, I wanted to take a soak in this amazing tub!

Even the shower was so nice.

The whole corner suite was windows.  It was breathtaking.

We had to take a picture in front of the Bellagio because that was where we stayed the other two times.  Kind of hard not to love the look of it!

We hit up the strip and found those stupid expensive fruity drinks...they were so good!

I soaked up every minute of the warmth and the sunshine!

We went into the mall and lo and behold, we see this sign.  Are you kidding me?!  Of course we had to sign up and meet Joe's childhood hero!

On the in between, we may have made a purchase here...Merry Christmas to me!

He was OVER the moon to meet Joe Montana.

I was so happy for him!! What are the odds he would be there within the hour we happened to walk in? #meanttobe

We just love the way the strip is all lit up at night.

Our hotel--so crazy big!!

I decided to wear my new Guess dress Friday night.

I think it will be perfect this winter for any holiday parties or just out to eat with my honey.

After dinner, the owner of the company that flew us out invited us to XS one of the hottest clubs.  We had actually come before years back, so we were definitely in to see the place again!  We felt very special to be asked, as a "table" is not cheap.  $700 for a bottle of Tito's Vodka.  Crazy!

We danced to DJ Snake, which I am so embarrassed to admit that I did not know who he was.  I figured he was a popular dj, but I had no clue that he was Justin Bieber's dj!  I found that out as I was driving the other day.  We had fun but didn't particularly like getting blasted in the face with this air---I think it was to cool people down? It was kind of weird. Apparently that is the thing to do at the clubs...#weold

Throwback Thursday

In honor of an upcoming Las Vegas trip, I figured I'd throw it back to our 2008 & 2009 trips to Vegas.

This was our second trip together and we went because my husband's cousin was getting married. We stayed a week at the Bellagio and had so much fun!

Out of all the places, we at at PF Changs...totally won't be eating there this time! I am super stoked to try Giada's restaurant.

Probably one of top favorite photos of us.

Poor thing busted the tip of his finger off a few weeks before we went. Luckily they were able to fix it and it's totally normal now!

Out shopping one day, a salesgirl told us we had to go drink a peach bellini at the Bellagio fountains.  It was SO good!

We went out dancing one of our last nights and enjoyed the rooftop bar.

We were not happy to go home!

And since we had so much fun in 2008, we decided to make the trip back in 2009.

This time we hit up "Old Vegas" and did some more sight-seeing.  We rode dune buggies through the dessert--so fun!

After dinner at Emeril's restaurant we took a helicopter ride over the strip.

We also hit up the hottest nightclubs at the time.

It's so funny to look back; we were only boyfriend/girlfriend at the time...the trip was in August and on October 23, he asked me to be his wife.   This will be our first time back there as a married couple!

Day Two: Old Town, Massages, & Shopping!

Wednesday morning we got up and decided we wanted to go check out "Old Town."  We had a few hours to kill before our 2 pm massages, so we wanted to take a little adventure.  This was our "vacation day" for sure, and we lived it up!

I layered with a kimono, black tee, & skinnies.

I couldn't get enough of that Arizona sunshine!

Or the palm trees.

We stopped at the resort's coffee shop and were on our way!  I had the barista make me her favorite drink--for the life of me, I can't remember anything other than an "Americana" and something about white chocolate? Super yummy!

When we got to Old Town, there was a little camera crew following two hip mamas and their babes in strollers.  No clue what they were talking about, but it was kinda cool to see!

Just one of the fun shops down there.

We kept trying to imagine what life was like back in the old days--a saloon and meeting up at high noon!

My friend.

The cactus were so cool and apparently really old. I had no idea how long it took to grow one and I guess it's illegal to mess with one!

We ate lunch at Mission--a really good Mexican restaurant!  Table side guacamole, yes please! I was dutifully studying the menu and wanted to order everything, basically.

Seriously, look at that guac!  I'm still drooling over it.

I decided on the Cubana--big as my head!! With an egg on it, duh.  I could barely eat half.

Joe went with the pork tacos. Yum!

We had a few moments to relax in the sun before our couples massage.

I did make one purchase [yes, No Spend November was not strictly enforced, le sigh, but…] the gift shop was full of Lilly Pullitzer, Tory Burch, Kate Spade & Kendra Scott.  None of which I own! So hubby says to me I can buy the Tory sunglasses, but I couldn't justify $165 on something the kids will probably steal and break.  So I opted for the $20 fakes, since we totally forgot our sunnies at home, and decided on this cute pair to come home with me.

I know they're a bit summery, but they're light and SO pretty! I love pink and it makes me so happy, so I figured these would go with a ton of my outfits.

I was imitating the statue ahead.  Hubby caught it on camera.

We had so much fun, just us two!

Spa time!! I cannot explain how amazing the spa was.  It smelled heavenly, they had rituals and everything!  There was a gigantic 50 pound crystal you put your hands on and inhaled/exhaled toxic & negative energy.  You then grab a stone (or rather, it picks you) and you set it down with an intention.

Rhodonite was mine.  Tiger Eye was Joe's.

After our aromatherapy massages, we sat by the pool and sipped a little something.

After that we headed back to our room, showered, changed, and were ready to meet everyone at the cocktail welcoming reception!

I went with a simple attire, but was hoping to stay warm since it was outside!

Black Swing Dress- Old Navy
Vest- Arden B [similar]
Boots- Aldo {similar}
Necklace & earrings - Stella & Dot

Not gonna lie, I was super excited for this little swanky event!  Little did I know the amazing people we would meet and what a great time we would have!

Tomorrow's post will be about the conference and my *proud wifey moment!!
