Fab Fit Fun {Winter Edition}

I'm not going to lie, I'm a sucker for good subscription boxes.  As much as I used to love shopping, leisurely taking my time to look around the malls and stores…ain't no prego with a toddler got time for that!!

I discovered this Fab Fit Fun box over the Summer and I really have loved them! I especially like that they are seasonal, so you get 4 a year, not one every month.  That can be a bit much…  So when my Winter one showed up, it was awesome!

Interested?
  • Full-size, premium products delivered 4x per year.
  • Over $200 in Beauty, Wellness, Fitness and Fashion Finds for only $49.99 per season!
  • FREE SHIPPING: We ship your box for free every season!
  • Use code NEW5 to save $5 instantly

At first glance: A sample of Justin's Almond Butter---I LOVE this and have an empty jar in my recycling bin.  I may have packed this in my diaper bag already, in case I need a snack ha!

Zumba--?!?!?!-- I LOVE ZUMBA and as soon as I get the all clear postpartum, I cannot WAIT to try this 60 minute DVD out.  How perfect, since I don't have a gym membership (yet) and with two little babes, maybe this will be perfect for me!! Yay!

Fashion Project-- I glanced at their site, it is where you can sell/buy high end clothing…mama will check back on that later.

Upon opening-

Eye Serum--Gogi berry something or other, feels soooo soooo good on my tired eyes.

Salted--3 free months of cooking classes online with some fab chefs; woot!  I may save this until I can really use it!

$25 towards Zumba gear!!

Organic Apple face peel--I slabbed it on before my shower yesterday and I may have noticed a little more glow to my skin.  I can't get over how big the samples are!

Evening Primrose hand creme-- It doesn't have a strong scent at all, but it was really a nice think winter cream.  I need all the help I can get because I wash dishes and my hands so frequently, my thumbs have already begun to crack!

I'm pretty partial to my Muscle Gain Protein shakes, but I'll still give this a whirl. It does have 23 grams a sugar, which I feel is kind of high, but I like that it's organic.  I'm saving this for when I am ravenous with nursing and need to fuel.

Again, I don't usually buy snack bars other than Advo, but I'll try this out. I stuck it in my bag in case we are in a jam and I'm hungry.

Makeup!!  I love makeup.  These two shades of mineral makeup are not something I usually wear, so I will play around…

Any tips? {I have brown eyes}

This candle smells heavenly.   It's my "nap time" go to right now…I will light it while she sleeps, and I can catch up on blogging, emails, whatever…smells heavenly!

And lastly, this necklace which fights hunger.  One necklace buys 7 meals!! I thought that was pretty cool.

Dr Dennis Gross: Skin Care

I have been blessed with really great skin.  It's not too oily or too dry.  Growing up I would get the occasional pimple {like embarrassingly huge} but no acne.  However since having Brooke, I've gone through some weird phases with my skin.  I think hormones played a part, but also I felt so yucky looking, before I lost the baby weight, for some reason I would just pile on all this makeup.  Truth is?  I was always a more is less kind of girl and I needed to get back to that.

I am also notoriously terrible at removing said makeup at night, which only results in clogged pores.  I started using the cleansing cloths, which is a step in the right direction, but they're just filled with chemicals and fillers. {aka crap}

I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that I had a skin consultation and I just LOVED it.  Joe's cousin Mary is working as a makeup and beauty expert {aesthetician} at Waterlily Day Spa.  If you are local, you must go see her!

She introduced me to this new [to me] skin care line.  Dr Gross is a NYC Dermatologist.  Legit big name celebs go and see him…I would love to get an appointment!

Mary gave me the whole run-around and I experienced everything from the facial cleanser to the serums.  She had actually given me samples of the "Alpha Beta Daily Peel" and that seriously was giving me a glow!!

I walked out with three goodies:

1.) This spray.  Maybe I'm just a weirdo, but I just love the fresh feeling of a hydrating spray!  I still have my Bare Minerals facial cleanser to use up, but after that I will be switching.

2.) Instead of my cheap Olay, I've decided to switch to this bad boy.  OMG.  You can literally feel it working.  Now, Mary was very good at explaining, just like we take vitamins to better our insides, why we put on our skin can be very similar.  Our bodies may need to adjust to the proper amount of supplements that we should be consuming; so will our skin.

That being said, my cheeks get a little flushed at first, but it is beginning to fade.  It's also good to switch up routines {like we do with workouts} so that our skin doesn't get complacent.

3.) The third and one of the most important items was the eye cream.  Mary said, "It's like a glass of water for your eyes."  The skin around our eyes is so thin and we need to treat it carefully!

Here are the fabulous daily face peels I was talking about…since I didn't want my hubby to think I was trying to break the bank, as badly as I wanted these, I put them on my wish list. {hint: Mother's Day}
I heard "peel" and I kind of freaked; don't.  It's so gentle and seriously ah-mazing feeling.

There are also some amazing serums she used one on me; oh my goodness I could just do this every day.

My thoughts?  Worth EVERY PENNY.  Now that I am getting older, proper skin care is a must! Just like with my AdvoCare supplements, I believe that when you spend your money, you will treat yourself better, or the way that you should.  I know that my Omegaplex, Coreplex, and Amplify (plus all my other awesome products) are doing wonders for my hair, skin and nails. I just took it to the next level!

I now look forward to my nightly skin care routine and he'd kill me if he knows I told you, but Joe likes it too!! Since the creams do not have a strong scent, it's totally gender friendly.  I had tried La Mer last year, and I really didn't love the smell.  Plus I am not quite ready for Botox haha…j/k..sort of...

I have had two blackheads on my chin {hormone related Mary told me} and one has finally surfaced! I cannot tell you how long they've been there, but I am so excited one has finally come to.  These products are my new jam and I just had to share my beauty tips with you.

I've also laid off the heavy foundations; I will rock them for going out but for day to day, I'm using Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer.

Have a beautiful day lovely friends!

*These are just my opinions and thoughts and I am not a professional.  I just love to share what works for me.  As always, ask your Dr before starting any new regimes.*

Let's Face It

So, ladies, what is it about the big three-OH?
I don't feel, 30 but my body is definitely different!
Those extra holiday Lbs are not budging like they used to.
My daily love affair with bread and my beloved morning bagels,
has sadly come to an end.
Egg white omlettes and fresh fruit please.
Aside from needing to tone up the triceps a bit more,
and up the ante on cardio/ab work,
my face is a changin'.
My skin is so different from 5 or 6 years ago.
I've been fortunate to have good skin,
it's never too dry or too oily.
However,
I feel like my pores have gotten much larger in the last year.
I'm starting to see more, gasp, wrinkles, and the skin around my eyes
just doesn't seem as tight and lifted.
I know, I am 30.
I'd like to think I'm embracing my age as best as I can, but I still want to have
"Young healthy looking skin."
If you don't follow Lauren Conrad's blog, you should!
She has tons of tips etc. on all aspects of life.
Her post here
inspired me to share some of my own healthy skin habits with you!
{I just want to make sure I give my girl LC credit!!}
Here's my list of what I try to do to achieve this!

  • Only drink water & lots of it (other than coffee or tea)
  • I eat lots of fruits and veggies
  • Stay away from fried foods
  • I try to not touch my face; it is gross to think all that our hands do touch!
  • Remove my makeup most days {working on this}
  • Take mutli-vitamins
  • Drink green tea
  • Trying to sleep on my back {I'm usually a side sleeper}
  •  Always wear sunglasses
  • Wear a hat in the sun
  • Wash every day with a milky/creamer cleanser
  • Use a deep pore cleanser every 3-4 days
  • Get professional facials at least twice {if not more} a year-[I really love the "Sonic Facial" where it seems to take a few years of your face!!]
  • Wear an SPF face lotion every day
  • Don't tug on skin near/around eye when applying lotions
  • Started using an eye cream
  • Use high quality makeup {such as Bare Escentuals}

Out of everything I've tried, my favorite face lotion by
Olay
This sensitive skin formula has NO SMELL!
It doesn't leave me feeling greasy or oily.

And for night time, I like their

I am a firm believer in this eye cream too.
I can totally see a difference.
I even put a dab in between my eye brows where
there is a slight crease forming.
It is a tad pricey, but again, how much is botox?

So, thanks to many b-e-a-utiful bloggy friends
and their gorgeous skin and wonderful recommendations,

Shasta
{just to name a few}
I have officially ordered my very own
 Clarisonic facial cleanser,
Via
I will definitely write up a review on it.
I hope it gets here soon!!
:)
I tried a facial mask from LUSH before and I loved it!
 It was a chocolate mint sample and I'd love to do it again.
So soft.
I remember when I was a teenager,
I read in my Seventeen magazine about an egg-white mask.
It turned from slime to stick and I don't think it did much
other than gross me out.
So I think I'll stick with some of these other natural DIYs!
I hope to implement a few of these!
Most of the DIY at home facials use simple
ingredients, such as:

What beauty tips do you have to share for your face?
Any certain products you'd recommend?

I love finding new ways to rejuvenate my face...since Botox is not an option.
Yet.
