Love Story

After we got engaged, I joined The Knot and wrote a detailed story of how we met and all that lovey dovey engagement mush.

Below are some of the highlights from our wedding.  We had an awesome videographer and are so fortunate to have this perfect day captured on video. Thanks again Kraig!

He even made us our own trailer!!

For our readings, we chose the following.

From The Notebook

The best love is the kind that weakens the soul, that makes us reach for more, that plants fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. And that’s what you’ve given me. That’s what I hope to give to you forever. Poets often describe love as an emotion that we can’t control, one that overwhelms logic and common sense. That’s what it’s like for me. I didn’t plan on falling in love with you, and I doubt that you planned on falling in love with me. But once we met, it was clear that neither of us could control what was happening to us. We fell in love, despite our differences, and once we did, something rare and beautiful was created. For me love like that has happened only once, and that’s why every minute we spent together has been seared in my memory. I’ll never forget a single moment of it.

Why Marriage?
Because to the depths of me, I long to love one person,
With all my heart, my soul, my mind, my body...

Because I need a forever friend to trust with the intimacies of me,
Who won't hold them against me,
Who loves me when I'm unlikable,
Who sees the small child in me, and
Who looks for the divine potential of me...

Because I need to cuddle in the warmth of the night
With someone who thanks God for me,
With someone I feel blessed to hold...

Because marriage means opportunity
To grow in love in friendship...

Because marriage is a discipline
To be added to a list of achievements...

Because marriages do not fail, people fail
When they enter into marriage
Expecting another to make them whole...

Because, knowing this,
I promise myself to take full responsibility
For my spiritual, mental and physical wholeness
I create me, I take half of the responsibility for my marriage
Together we create our marriage...

Because of this understanding
The possibilities are limitless.

We took a gamble with an outdoor wedding.

It was perfection.

Shoes:

My Dream Shoes!

Clutch {$25}

Dress:
Be sure to take some 'before' shots!

We decided to just have a "Sweethearts' Table"
We loved it.
Being able to sit by ourselves and look at everyone, was amazing.
Champagne flutes: Vera Wang~gift from my matron of honor
For our chairs I bought white covers & sashes {watermelon & guava to match my bridesmaids' dresses}
All of our friends/family in our wedding party sat with whom they wanted to.
Also, I didn't have assigned seating. I {gasp} allowed people to sit where they wanted to.
It was perfect.

The Cake topped with Fresh Gerbera Daisies
{Each layer was a different flavor!}

 Letters from Michaels.

We cut the cake to the song, "Bonnie & Clyde" ~Jay-Z &  Beyonce
Centerpieces:
Mango/kiwi scented candles from Michael's
Stones: Dollar Tree
Silver Plates: Online
Instead of having our guests sign their name in a book, I left a pre-made scrapbook out with bright colored scraps of paper.  People left loving notes, silly stories, or just well-wishes. I still need to put the pictures in  with the notes now...
For Fun:
I loved the idea of a "photobooth" but didn't want to rent one...
So I gathered & purchased some fun & silly props.

We set up a camera on a tri-pod and our guests had some photoshoots!

They just kept getting sillier as the night progressed!
