Favorite Beauty Products

I'm definitely not a beauty guru, but with the help of my girlfriends, I am slowly becoming more confident with makeup.  I have some tried and true favorites as well as some newer additions to my routine.

I am not a huge makeup risk taker, but I am trying to venture out of my comfort zone and am willing to try new things!  That said, my skin is super sensitive and very picky.  I have to be really careful with what I use so that I don't breakout. These are just my thoughts and no, I'm not getting paid or sponsored to talk about about any of these!!

Lashes:
I use an eyelash curler and L'oreal has never done me wrong!  I am lucky to have decent lashes and I struggle trying to apply fake ones, so I gave up on that. This is my current favorite!

Toner:
I love the feeling of something freshly sprayed on my face before applying makeup or after taking it off at night.  This Rose water from Younique smells amazing and really helps refresh my skin.

Skin Care:
One of my sister's good friends sells MK so I decided to give it a shot. I have had a few pimples, but I don't think they were caused by this.  (I do get a few every other month) so far I've been using this routine for about a month and a half.  I think my skin is looking quite nice and so far I'm very pleased!  I feel confident just wearing a little cover up and my complexion rescue out and about.

Primer:
After I moisturize, I will put a little bit of this around my nose and forehead.  I feel that it helps my pores look smaller & keep the makeup in place.

Foundation:
This is the hardest for me; I love trying new and different kinds of foundation but my skin really only likes Bare Minerals it seems.  I do like their original mineral powder, but lately this has been my go to.  I like the "Natural 05" shade best for me.  It gives a little bit of a tint; I don't like to look pale.

Under Eye Concealer:
I've tried others, but ALWAYS come back to this. It helps the dark circles and I use it to cover up blemishes too.

Setting Powder:
I didn't really "get" what this did until recently.  After I apply my complexion rescue, I brush on a little bit of this to keep it in place.

Bronzer:

This is a great little travel case and my favorite bronzer right now.  I love that it has a place for lip gloss as I always need gloss.

Brush:
I scooped this big boy up at Target and love using it for my bronzer. It's big and fluffy!

Blush:
If I'm feeling extra flirty, I'll add a little blush to my cheekbones. This is my favorite!

Eye Liner:
I use Bare Minerals. I like the absolute black and usually only line my upper lids slightly; if I want more dramatic (date night) I will line the bottom too.

As for eye shadows, I tend to stick to neutrals/browns. I do like pinks/jewel tones, but I'm still playing around with those.

New Products:
Eye cream
Liquid Lip
Eye shadow palette.

I need to play and report back on these!

Eye cream:
I do wear this at night.  I try to put it on in the morning but there's a lot of other stuff going on and I don't always remember.

After my birthday facial, the girl told me this would help with my "pregnancy mask" and to apply it in the morning.  I am almost out of it and my skin issues have resolved...but the sun has disappeared, so it could be that too! I like this though and would probably use it again.

Removing makeup:
I'm lazy at night. I try to wash, but some nights I just wipe. These are my go-to.

Sunless Tanner:
My favorite sunless tanner is still this one. I like others, but this gives me the best non-orange, no streak look. I can apply it a few days and it doesn't look weird.  I'm out and need more before Vegas!

I am half tempted to do a get ready with me video, just because it may be fun! But I don't know if I'm ready for that.

What are your favorite beauty products?  Any tips to share?

Maternity Monotone Anyone?

TGIF Loves!
I am constantly trying to find cute things to dress the bump in,
and today's Friday's Fancies entailed the monotone trend.
Honestly?
I didn't think I could pull it off with a baby bump...
but I think this actually  may look cute!!?
I haven't tried the all-one-color look,
but I must say I kind of like it!
I decided anything too bold may be a bit much to try at first,
but I didn't want to do just black.
So?
I went for a neutral grey
I actually own that necklace from Stella & Dot and it's one of my favorites.
I just need the rest of this fun little get up!!
You could totally switch the shoes to flats, but I admit,
I love me some prego in heels.
What do you think?

Weekend Rewind!

Finally, we had a weekend with no plans!!
Saturday hubs called me and said he made reseravations at Jo Jos,
one of my favorite bistros, for dinner!
After dinner, we walked the canal and had ice cream cones.
I was a happy, yet tired mama and by 9:45, I was snuggled in bed watching TV.
He has had a total of 3 days off the whole month of June.
I am SO happy July is here!
With the crazy tent sale and on top of that, his poor assistant had to have emergency surgery,
Joe has been working way more than he usually has to.
My husband works his tail off to provide for our {growing} family,
and I couldn't be more thankful and appreciate for how hard he works.
It is a little difficult because not many people understand how hard it is to
commit to events and gatherings, when all this man wanted was a day to do what he pleases!
On the way to dinner he said, "I haven't even gone golfing yet this year."
So of course, being the loving wife I said, "How about tomorrow?"
He called his buddy up and they had a tee time for 10:52.
They are pretty funny together, and they always bet on who will win.
Clearly they're not Tiger Woods, but they had fun!
I went along, just to enjoy the beautiful weather and spend time with hubs.
heck yea I left my curls from the night before
On the way home we picked up ingredients to make our delicious
Sirloin Burgers
w/avocado, applewood smoked bacon, gruyere cheese,
and sat out back on our deck, and literally took a nap before dinner.
It was a perfect Sunday and I hope it rejuvenated my over-worked man!
A few other fun things:
I made homemade lemonade using
and it was divine!!
I fill up one of my tumblers with ice and fill with lemonade...
summer perfection!
I just cannot rave enough about Bare Minerals makeup.
I have been loving and using their makeup for one year now,
and I couldn't be happier.
The looks I achieve are so fresh, natural and radiant.
silly mypace style iphone pic hehe
Seriously though, I just switched to their face wash and my breakouts have cleared up!
Lovely pregnancy hormones have made my skin a little tricky, so I'm glad this worked!
I also got to hold my neighbor's month old sweet baby Mya.
She was so cute and I cannot wait to hold our baby in my arms!!
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend as much as I did.
Lots to look forward this 4th of July week!
Stay cool.

Makeup, Movie & a Meal! My views on it all.

April Showers....
may kill our May flowers?
I am not so sure what the weather wants to do lately.
I got a sunburn while having lunch with my sister last Friday.
We sat outside and enjoyed lunch in 84 degree, cloudless weather.
Today?
There are numerous school closings and
apparently every place south of us, has heavy, wet snow!
We just have rain...and lots of it here.
I hope it clears up a bit Saturday night when we
throw my lil sis a bachelorette party!!
I had a wonderful Saturday with my girlfriend Kristin.
We stopped at the mall for a little Bare Escentuals visit
She bought a few fun items, including a gorgeous
nude lipstick. I love how they let you try it all first!
I left with...
My foundation.
I run out of this most often because I love it!!
 I wanted a new blush,
but was sidetracked by this fun package
of bronzed & brilliant
She did my left side of my face with it,
and the difference was seriously
amazing! I love the little fan brush too.
And I am ready to rock some red, red lips.
I haven't worn red lipstick
(other than in dance recitals or shows)
and this one called, Strength
was calling my name.
I cannot wait to pull this off on my pout!
Next on our list was to see a moooooovie.
We wanted to see
*all images via google images*
 Quick review:
  • Super cheesy (we figured)
  • A few tear-jerking moments, but no actual tears.
  • A bit of a far-fetched plot at times
  • A tad over-dramatic, I may have laughed out loud at a 'sad' scene
  • I did love the scenery & simplicity of their country lives.
I'm glad we went to a matinee & had $2 coupons off.
I am also happy I didn't subject hubs to it, as he would have fallen asleep!
I will admit, watching the characters truly "live" without technology all the time,
makes me want to throw away my phone and keep my computer off.
Don't get me wrong, they had Iphones & fancy flat screen tvs in the movie,
but they weren't the main focus of all the characters.
They were reading books & talking a lot to each other.
I'm starting to notice the importance of unplugging more and more.
I've deleted the Facebook App. on my phone.
Hubs put on jazz music for dinner last night & afterwards,
we went into the living room and just talked
[and I showed him some yoga moves she should try]
I don't care how talented you are, no decent convo
can occur when the television, iPad, iPhone, laptop, is on.
I don't want to be 'that girl on her phone.'
There is nothing worse than seeing people out to eat,
all members of the family texting, tweeting, facebooking...
what happened to the art of conversation?
I know with blogging, I should be recording all
awesome moments that I want to share with you,
but sometimes?
I just want to be in the moment.
Speaking of,
after the movie, Kristin and I went to dinner.
It was a cute & trendy restaurant
and I had one of those half-off deals.
Now, hubs eats a lot of pizza at work,
so he never wants to go out for it.
I am a true pizza lover and love trying new creations!
So, we walk into the restaurant, and it's a little after 5pm.
We walk up to the host, and tell him a table for two.
Him: Do you have reservations?
Kristin: Oh, no! We didn't think we'd need them this early!? So sorry!
Him: hmmmm...sigh....geeeeze, lemme see...it's a small place so we fill up fast!
{I turn around and see a sea of open tables, and two tables occupied}
Him: I think we can squeeze you in right over here.
Kristin: Oh, thank you so much, so sorry..etc etc
I laugh to myself all the way to one of the many open tables.
Kristin looks at me, like what is so funny...
and I realize how much my husband has influenced me.
I explain to her, that there are a lot of open tables,
and just because they serve over-priced pizzas,
this is considered trendy.
The host is trying to make us feel guilty for no reservations,
but there is no need for a reservation at an early bird seating like this!
Look around!?!
For instance, when we call to make reservations at one of the local
"cool"
restaurants, no matter what time you tell them, for instance, 7:00, they will so say,
"Oh, well, about 7:45 or 8:15"
Because apparently it's really cool to eat at quarter after/of.
It brings me back to this scene of the movie
Date Night:

{I remember watching this movie on our flight home from Rome on our honeymoon!}
 Anyways,
K & I were dying laughing, and continued this joke all throughout our meal,
as the water took forever to be filled.
{He finally brought a pitcher with a slice of cucumber ooooo}
Our wine was served in mini carafes,
{so we could pour it ourselves into a glass}
our appetizer was delivered..
and our my burnt bottom pizza took FOR-EVER
to be brought to us.
Meanwhile, once the place was hustling and bustling
there were pizzas flying out left & right...
So we attributed our semi-slow service
to having no reservations.
It just cracks me up.
It's one thing, if you have 5-6 waiters waiting on you,
folding your napkin & placing it on your chair as you
use the restroom, scrape your table with a crumb catcher,
and order a meal that is so incredibly well cooked, you shed a tear.
But in a pizza place with brown paper table 'cloths'
I wasn't that impressed.
Was it terrible?
Absolutely not.
I would not have changed a thing in the world!
I had so much fun and we even commented how
all day we were together, but until we sat
face-to-face and were able to just,
it felt like we hadn't been able to talk about anything important.
And that brings me to my next point of,
I will no longer have an expectation of restaurant food,
but rather the experience.
The ability to sit down and be waited on.
The focus isn't on how well my meal turned out,
or when I'm going to get those dishes done,
but rather, how is that person doing that I'm with?
To just sit and talk, and talk, and put our phones away.
That is what is so important.
OK,
It is time to get to work!
I will consult my master cleaning plan:
HERE
Since we have a lot going on this weekend, I better
get my booty into gear!
Have a great week!!
And remember...

Let's Face It

So, ladies, what is it about the big three-OH?
I don't feel, 30 but my body is definitely different!
Those extra holiday Lbs are not budging like they used to.
My daily love affair with bread and my beloved morning bagels,
has sadly come to an end.
Egg white omlettes and fresh fruit please.
Aside from needing to tone up the triceps a bit more,
and up the ante on cardio/ab work,
my face is a changin'.
My skin is so different from 5 or 6 years ago.
I've been fortunate to have good skin,
it's never too dry or too oily.
However,
I feel like my pores have gotten much larger in the last year.
I'm starting to see more, gasp, wrinkles, and the skin around my eyes
just doesn't seem as tight and lifted.
I know, I am 30.
I'd like to think I'm embracing my age as best as I can, but I still want to have
"Young healthy looking skin."
If you don't follow Lauren Conrad's blog, you should!
She has tons of tips etc. on all aspects of life.
Her post here
inspired me to share some of my own healthy skin habits with you!
{I just want to make sure I give my girl LC credit!!}
Here's my list of what I try to do to achieve this!

  • Only drink water & lots of it (other than coffee or tea)
  • I eat lots of fruits and veggies
  • Stay away from fried foods
  • I try to not touch my face; it is gross to think all that our hands do touch!
  • Remove my makeup most days {working on this}
  • Take mutli-vitamins
  • Drink green tea
  • Trying to sleep on my back {I'm usually a side sleeper}
  •  Always wear sunglasses
  • Wear a hat in the sun
  • Wash every day with a milky/creamer cleanser
  • Use a deep pore cleanser every 3-4 days
  • Get professional facials at least twice {if not more} a year-[I really love the "Sonic Facial" where it seems to take a few years of your face!!]
  • Wear an SPF face lotion every day
  • Don't tug on skin near/around eye when applying lotions
  • Started using an eye cream
  • Use high quality makeup {such as Bare Escentuals}

Out of everything I've tried, my favorite face lotion by
Olay
This sensitive skin formula has NO SMELL!
It doesn't leave me feeling greasy or oily.

And for night time, I like their

I am a firm believer in this eye cream too.
I can totally see a difference.
I even put a dab in between my eye brows where
there is a slight crease forming.
It is a tad pricey, but again, how much is botox?

So, thanks to many b-e-a-utiful bloggy friends
and their gorgeous skin and wonderful recommendations,
 Amber
Danielle
Shasta
{just to name a few}
I have officially ordered my very own
 Clarisonic facial cleanser,
Via
I will definitely write up a review on it.
I hope it gets here soon!!
:)
I tried a facial mask from LUSH before and I loved it!
It was a chocolate mint sample and I'd love to do it again.
So soft.
I remember when I was a teenager,
I read in my Seventeen magazine about an egg-white mask.
It turned from slime to stick and I don't think it did much
other than gross me out.
So I think I'll stick with some of these other natural DIYs!
I hope to implement a few of these!
Most of the DIY at home facials use simple
ingredients, such as:

Any certain products you'd recommend?
Leave a link with your blog post if you've already written something similar!!
I love finding new ways to rejuvenate my face...since Botox is not an option.

Thinking Pink Date Night Style

Linking up for my first Friday's Fancies with  Long Distance Loving
This week it's all about PINK...
Positive thoughts to all of those women who have been affected by breast cancer.
Life is precious. Live it up with a pop of PINK!

Here's a style you could wear to celebrate you (& your fabulous girls ;)
