Busted Toes with a Side of Sunny Side Up

Well, let's just say that this week is not turning out how I thought it would be!!  Yesterday as I was starting to prepare my tasty soup recipe, Miss B tried to help.  And by help, I mean that she dropped a can of diced tomatoes on her foot!  It took awhile for me to figure out where said can landed, and it ended up being her little tiny piggy toe.  Ya know, the one that goes wee wee wee….yah.  So we iced it for as long as she'd let me and it's all purple now.

Poor girl, but she was so tough! After some snuggles and kisses to the boo boo, and much talk about it, she was up and at em in no time. Tough. Chick.

Meanwhile, does anyone else's kitchen ever look like this while they cook?? Goodness. She loves "helping" and her new favorite thing is stacking cups.  Whatever it takes to keep her entertained while I am in the kitchen, I will do…PS see the big box in the back? Santa has some work to do!  #kitchenset

So lunch was super yummy--that soup recipe I shared on here. OMG. Total make again and treat yourself to some of these!

It really came out well!!

Last night we were actually supposed to go out and have dinner with some good friends to celebrate their anniversary.  I got my hair all fixed up, makeup on, cute outfit…

Buuut reality hit (literally) when a couple came to pick up an old dresser/nightstand we were giving away on Craigslist.  The dumb thing fell apart and hit Joe right in the toe.  What is up with him and his daughter?! Needless to say, all plans were cancelled and he's been icing, elevated and applying essential oils like cray.

What are the odds I'd have two feet pictures on my phone from the same day??

Two. Peas. In. A. Pod.

Oh, and baby boy and me?  We are good!! Minus the whole, he is sunny side up and not facing the right way…thaaaaaaaat explains my odd symptoms, and by odd I just mean I didn't feel this way with Brooke.  Like what?  This back pain, which I had back pain earlier on with Brooke, but nothing with Brad.  Until lately--and this cramping, along with his feet or knees are kicking up by my ribs to the point where it hurts so bad! It's crazy how different pregnancies can be.

His head is down, but he is facing my stomach.  Hopefully he will turn on his own…so I've already started my venture on natural ways to get baby to flip, and enlisted my #1 source: my acupuncturist.  She said I have to warm my kidneys, so lots of black tea, walnuts, sweet potatoes, sea salt and keep my feet covered always!!  I'll do anything to try and get him to turn.  Oy!

So, heart rate was 144.  He's measuring on time, 36 weeks.  Head is down.   I did my Group B Strep test--so fun--not---and I will just assume I'm positive since I was with Brooke. I just had to have antibiotics as soon as I go into labor.  Now we start our weekly visits and I am full term next week!

Here's to a *peaceful* rest of the day...

Holistic Rems & OOTDs

How's everyone's day so far??
We experienced almost a 90 degree day Monday!!
Therefore, I rocked one of my new Tarjay Maxis!!
I snuck outside for a bit and soaked in some vitamin D
and so did Holly Wally!
*Note the hyacinths growing; I planted them & they came up*
Yesterday hubs had off, since he will have to work
on Friday which is his normal day off.
 Cardi: H&M
Tank: Loft
Jeans: Vera Wang @ Kohls
Black peep toes: Candies @ Kohls
It was a rather holistic kind of day and
aside from my annoying allergy sneezes,
I feel great!
Anyone else having allergy issues??
The husband had a chiropractor appointment
and I went along.
This guy was fantastic and I cannot wait to go
and get my adjustment from him!
You can't just go to any Chiro, you really need
to find a good one.
He shared a philosophy that my husband and I
are taking very seriously.
If you have any issues going on..
migraines, stomachaches, stress, anxiety, obesity, etc...
{the list can go on and on}
Strictly focus on the
CORE FOUR:
  • eat 6 clean meals a day
  • exercise at least 4 times a week
  • 8 hours of sleep a night
  • have fun
Before you have to go on all these crazy meds,
implement these core four principles and see if your
condition changes.
 I truly believe in this and it seems so simply stupid,
but really, how many of us eat 6 times a day?
And eat "clean" at that?
The chiropractor's wife is his assistant who runs
 the front desk. She made him
a protein shake as one of his meals while we were there.
It was such a positive and calming environment.
He really talked and listened to what shoulder/back
issues my husband's been having,
and he really cared to hear about us as people.
I told him how I stopped teaching to stay home
and his reaction was a lot different than most;
he literally clapped his hands in a circle and said
Good for you.
He really made my day!
We talked about how it's so traditional and
to some people, seems backwards, but how
effective it is and beneficial to our health,
our lives.
{As I type this, the doggies are rolling around playing;
something they'd not be able to do if I was actually
administering the ELA because they'd be stuck in their crates..
just sayin..}
After the chiropractor, we stopped over to get Joe's suit
jackets taken in a bit & buy some new ones.
After that I went to some acupuncture for some stress relief.
She talked a lot about how it's in our genes and most of how
we are built, we cannot control.
She saw lots of 'heart heat' coming from the needles.
I am a bit lot more sensitive than most,
and stress over things Joe wouldn't blink an eye at.
It's not my fault, but it does get the best of me sometimes.
My acupuncturist commended me at hows
proactive I am about it; I can tell
right away when I'm just feeling
a little bit worked up.
She told me to lay off
pickles, hot sauces, cinnamon, and any
other spicy triggers.
Funny how food can affect us, but I believe in it.
I cannot wait to be sipping the drink of the day on
The Carnival Dream.
On the adults only.

Fabulous Fridays

Friday was the first day since 10.2 that Joe actually had off....what'd we do? For starters, slept in until almost 10!!  No waking up at 7am to have him rush out the door by 8:30.

Then I made him breakfast in bed {I've been doing it since we met, it's just routine on some days off, which are far and few between, he gets his eggs & bacon in bed.}  The key to that is, SLOW COOK THE BACON.  Seriously. I put it on low, don't touch it and let it cook for at least 20+ minutes.  If you cook it too high, too fast, it either gets too crispy or too much of the fat never cooks up.  Plus it needs to be Applewood Smoked Bacon. Yes, it matters!

We hung around the house for a bit, then went out for Acupuncture. He actually got me to try it when we first started dating, it was a bit scary but intriguing at the same time.

He has Crohn's Disease, so anything to try and ease his pain, he was willing to try.

Now that we've been going to T, Joe feels physically well, and I the over-analyzing, worry wart, Type-A, has calmed down immensely.  I can do yoga and completely zen out at the end, as opposed to staring at the ceiling and thinking of the ten million things that need to get done.  I started seeing her in the midst of my wedding planing, honeymoon booking, wrapping up the school year as an 8th grade English teacher....and a bunch of other things going on that just don't matter now, but back then, all of it combined was too much.  So I figured I'd rather go the more natural, holistic approach to dealing with my stress {I didn't want to pop prescriptions, just my preference.  Everyone is different.}

So if you've got an issue or ailment, and thought about giving acupuncture a try, GO!

The worst is that you see no results. The best?

Well, you feel emotionally, physically, & mentally well and whole.

Joe~hooked up to a stim

 Just a few in my wrists....and my legs, toes, belly, forehead! No, it really doesn't hurt!

And then it got a little interesting.  Joe noticed glass jars and wanted to know what they were used for...

That's my back. Thanks babe!

This is what is known as, "Cupping."  I found an article if you want to know more, click here

And of course, what treatment wouldn't be complete without a little Moxa?

Not going to lie, when I heard the word blow torch, I got worried.  But it really didn't hurt at all...I just smelled like burning skin the rest of the night haha.

So, acupuncture--does it hurt? No.  You may feel a 'dull' sensation of the needles, but really I fall right to sleep on my stomach.
Cupping? Yeah, that definitely was more of an annoying suction feeling...I still have marks on my back 3 days later, so don't do it if you have to wear a skimpy outfit! {luckily, i do not.}

And we ended our fantabulous Friday with a night out {off--no cooking for me wow!} At Plum Garden, where I enjoyed a nice glass of Pinot Noir and sushi.

We are sushi addicts!!

What natural ways do you help deal with stress or other health ailments?
