Tip Tuesday: Gift Ideas-

I know it's still a little early to talk Christmas, but I actually am ahead of the game this year and it feels great! I would love to help others who may be a little 'stuck' in their shopping. I'll be sharing every Tuesday until Christmas!!

If you're like me, accessories are certainly a part of pulling an outfit together.  Unfortunately, it seems as though they can get lost or easily ruined (especially as a mama of two littles!) I just threw together some cute cold weather must-haves that would be great for a stocking stuffer or even a secret Santa exchange!

Stocking stuffers: cold weather accessories

  • Sunglasses are almost more important in the Winter, because the snow can be so blinding!  I love a good pair of classic black shades.
  • I am obsessed with the beanie look, and am dying to get my hands on one! This white would look so pretty with the snow.
  • A cozy Christmas tartan scarf is sure to keep you warm, hide any OJ stains from when your daughter spilled it on your shirt, and get you in the festive spirit!
  • Fingerless gloves.  It's cold here, but you still need to be able to access your phone.
  • MAC lipstick, because…have you tried MAC? OMG #lifechanging
  • Festive iPhone cover---basic need. #duh

Check out my Polyvore page for where to buy these goodies!

Trendy Topic: Plaid

I have always been a fan of trends, but sometimes am hesitant to spend too much money on them, for fear they'll be out of date sooner than later.  What I've learned through the years, is to pick one or two items of a trend I like and try it out.  Today I'm talking plaid!

Plaid is something that seems to always have its moment.  I remember having adorable plaid skirts in Jr. High that my mom insisted I buy.  Looking back, even then she was helping me be a little fashionista. Thanks mom!  It seems as though as soon as the weather begins to dip here in good old upstate NY, plaid starts playing peek-a-boo around these parts.  I pulled together seven different ways you could try out plaid, or even go pull from your closet to help update your current wardrobe.

My biggest advice?  One piece of plaid per outfit.  This is definitely a pattern you don't really want to mix all together…keep your basic solid colors, and then add to it with one of these items below.

1. Blanket Scarf-  Probably my favorite trend so far! I saw these bad boys last year and new in a hot minute that I needed one!  *Frugal tip* -- I remember seeing the ZARA scarf floating around and it was like, hundreds of dollars.  Great if you have extra cash flow lying around, but for a stay at home mama and one on the way, that was not in my budget! I scoured the internet and saw one on E-bay for $13 shipped.  This year they are far more accessible, and very reasonably priced.  It's the perfect accessory to a plain tee while adding a little warmth.  The versatility is amazing, and there's really no wrong way to wear it!  I love all of the different colors and decided to add one more to my collection this year.  It's nice to wrap the babes up in too, if we're stuck outside for an extra moment and the wind picks up.  If you're looking to try out this trend in a big way, go for a blanket scarf!

2. Infinity Scarf- If you're a little intimidated by the size of a blanket scarf, or live in a warmer climate, perhaps a circle scarf would work best for you!  I love the simplicity of this scarf, as it stays put!  It's perfect if you're running around and don't want long ends of the scarf getting in the way.  It does have a bit more professional look too, I could see it paired with a classic LBD and boots for a polished feel.

3.  Basic Plaid Shirt- Seriously my go to shirt as a mama. I picked up mine from Marshall's this year in the Junior's section for about $15.  I know Target has some nice shirts too.  It's great for running errands, feeling cozy and just giving you that laid back jeans and sneaks feel.  Go with a color that you love, or that people tell you looks great on you!  If it's long enough, you could pair it with basic black leggings too.  I just think jeans and a plaid shirt are Fall perfection.

4.  Shirt Dress-  This is a trend that I want to try, but haven't yet!  I think so many women can pull this off, no matter what shape or size.  You want to avoid the "school girl look," so be sure to choose your shoes wisely. No thigh high or over the knee boots here.  I think basic booties or flats work best.  The belt is kind of a necessity too, make it skinny to cinch your waist and help flaunt your womanly curves and give shape.

5.  Poncho- I feel like this is the sister to the blanket scarf, but way less work!  You can just slip your arms right through, and you're ready to go!  No muss, no fuss.  You can dress it up with a fun hat, like below, and I really love it with the distressed denim.  Again, keep the rest of the outfit simple, as the poncho is a statement piece.  This one is from Wet Seal and such a great price!

6. Shoes- You could go dressy, like below, or find a pair of comfy flats.  Either way, it adds a little trend in your step and doesn't come off too showy.  I love these heels and think they'd be perfect for a working woman who can't really wear too much of the plaid clothing for work.  This pattern is especially great because it could take you right into the Christmas season and holiday parties!

7.  Jewelry-  Still nervous to try out plaid?  Start super small.  Find something on earrings, a watching, necklace, whatever.  Maybe you just need to try it out for size.  That how I look at things.  You don't always have to go big or go home, you can just keep it simple and some of the smallest pieces are the most noticed! Pull your hair into a high pony or a messy top knot to show them off.  I think they're adorable.

Another site to check out for plaid deals, is Jane.com.  I love this site and am not affiliated, I just love not paying full price for trendy boutique items!  That is where I ordered my second blanket scarf a few weeks back.

Mad for Plaid

I personally think it's fun to try out new styles and trends. I don't always know what to do, so I'll share in another post some of my go-to fashion icons and how I stay up to date on what's on trend.  I think the wonderful thing about fashion, is that we can all create a style all our own.  We don't have to dress one way every single day, and that's the beauty of it!  As long as you feel confident and are appropriately dressed for whatever your occasion, enjoy and have fun!  There's nothing wrong with yoga pants and old sweatshirts, but sometimes it's fun to add a little something to our wardrobes.

Dream Board: Baby Boy's Nursery

TGIF!! It has been a very long, stressful, exhausting and expensive week, but our doggie is home and seems to be doing well!! I was running around all day and finally had some time to decompress tonight.  I saw that I missed a really cool prompt the other day for #blogtember and goodness knows, I need all the inspiration I can get right now for baby boy's nursery!!

We have the walls painted with "Manitou Blue" and when I google that color, this image popped up and inspired me:

It's a bit eclectic, but I really loved the contrast of the bright orange and blue.

We have a few crib options we really liked at Buy Buy Baby, but nothing has been purchased!! I am not very "theme" oriented when it comes to a room---I like it to express feelings/moods: happiness, love, peace, fun, lively…

So I think something similar to this "dream board" would be perfect for our little man!!

Baby Boy Nursery

Baby Boy Nursery by jennifer-delle-fave featuring a round lamp

Daddy is an avid hunter, so I wanted to incorporate wild life of some sort--a deer picture or pillow.  He also loves football, so I would love to find something that fits in.

I love the bright pop of orange to accent with; certainly wouldn't do too much, but I think maybe a sheet, a throw pillow, and a stuffed animal would work!

I think I'll keep the curtain neutral.

We'll need a standing lamp, as there is no overhead light.  I also love baskets to organize with; they really help reign in all the baby stuff you need!

Swaddle blankets are a must as well; the muslin ones are perfect for so many things.

The Rock and Play sleeper is on my 'wish list' and I really think he'll get a ton of use from it.

I want to find him a special little stuffed animal too, before he is born. I bought Brooke an adorable ballerina bear, and my heart just melts when she plays with it.

Anything I should add?

Maternity Monotone Anyone?

TGIF Loves!
I am constantly trying to find cute things to dress the bump in,
and today's Friday's Fancies entailed the monotone trend.
Honestly?
I didn't think I could pull it off with a baby bump...
but I think this actually  may look cute!!?
I haven't tried the all-one-color look,
but I must say I kind of like it!
I decided anything too bold may be a bit much to try at first,
but I didn't want to do just black.
So?
I went for a neutral grey
I actually own that necklace from Stella & Dot and it's one of my favorites.
I just need the rest of this fun little get up!!
You could totally switch the shoes to flats, but I admit,
I love me some prego in heels.
What do you think?

My Pregnancy Essentials

It's already Wednesday?!
I had my husband home with me from Friday evening until just a few moments ago...
It was AWESOME!!
He finished painting the nursery, we spent some QT with my fam,
and he has logged many hours into his Madden '13 game.
Baby & I are doing well, still needing to watch what I eat...
heartburn is a biotch that sneaks right up on me!!
As I near the 23 week mark,
I really wanted to share what has been so helpful to me.
I saw a few of these early on in my pregnancy,
and it's always helpful to see what tools other pregos use to keep themselves
as comfy as possible during these beautiful, yet uncomfortable months.
I know there are many awesome products out there,
I simply narrowed it down to what I deem most important during these months.
{I also tried to include a link at description if you're interested in seeing more about the product}
My top ten faves include:

pregnancy essentials

1.  Pre-Natal Yoga.
I prefer to go to a weekly class, but even the DVD is great.
The class surrounds you with other positive pregnant women, a helpful instructor, and a wonderful
environment for you and your growing baby.
Learning the proper yoga moves help with funny aches/pains that come with the growing belly.
I got the above DVD at Target.
2. Maternity Tanks-
Liz Lange maternity tops from Target are heavenly.
They've helped me stay cool in this unbearable summer heat,
and I look forward to layering them come fall/winter.
I will be investing in a few t-shirts soon as well.
3. Strappy Sports Bras-
I gave up on pretty/regular/underwire bras.
They hurt and I only last in them a few hours.
I live for any tank top/sports bras. It doubles as a cami (or appears as one) under some of my dresses or tanks that I am falling out of, since the girls just won't, stop, growing.
I found cheap, cute, & comfy ones at Wal-Mart.
4.  Water.Water.Water-
I seem to drink more when I have the cute tumbler/straw handy.
Some days I am just so parched!!
If I don't drink enough H20, it's easy to get backed up...no bueno.
I would love a super cute monogrammed one.
5.  The Snoogle-
I personally see a difference in my sleep.
I tried shoving pillows all around, but this thing just curls up in all the right places.
I highly suggest it!
6.  TUMS (or whatever knock-off brand).
I have been getting pretty bad heartburn,
especially at night when I lay down...the burning creeps up on me!
I just take one {or two} and it seems to do the trick long enough so I can fall asleep.
7.  Old Fashioned Glazed Donuts.
Good luck finding them around here!
I seriously went to two different Timmy Ho's last week and they were out.
That's like KFC being out of fried chicken.
I settled on a sour cream glazed, but I digress...
8.  Maternity Leggings from Gap-
I am putting tremendous faith in these suckers,
as I ordered 3 pairs and I am anxiously awaiting their arrival.
I love leggings and I have heard wonderful magical things about these.
9.  Burt Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter-
I have tried a few different lotions, but this so far is my absolute favorite.
It contains no parabens!!
I love that it doesn't have a smell (particularly no funny smell!)
It lathers right on and soaks in my big ol' belly so nice.
I love that I can scrape every last morsel out of the tub and not feel like I wasted any.
10. A pregnancy journal-
I just picked mine up at Buy Buy Baby last week when I registered.
I love being able to write down all the different emotions, feelings, thoughts that have gone through
our minds as we enter our journey into parenthood.
It also helps keep a pregnant gal busy, as she anxiously counts down the days
until her little bean is finally here.
***
Of course I highly suggest a support group of a caring partner, family, & friends.
More than any gadget, it's times when I feel like I'm falling apart,
my sweet husband kindly reminds me, I'm not falling apart, I'm simply pregnant.
On that note, I must get cleaning since we basically lounged aruond
all weekend and I barely touched any sort of cleaning.

Spring Break 2012

I am more than ready for Spring and a vacation!!
As I sit and type this, it is literally snowing.
Yuck.
I cannot believe it was 66 degrees just a few days ago!
Anywhoodle, today I'm linking up with AV at long distance loving.
We are dreaming up some cute spring break outfits!
It was soooo hard to chose just one,
but I am loving the simplicity of a white tank and jean shorts.
I just want to dress it up with fun jewelry!!
If you want to see what my
dream bikini would be,
I love browns with this look.
On break you must have a big floppy hat to
protect your skin.
Now that I'm 30, I am really taking my skin care seriously!
I'd also pack along some sunblock and a good book.
I'm beyond excited for our upcoming vacations,
and hubs said we can go play at the mall today!
Sephora, here I come!!
What outfit are you dying to wear once the
weather breaks (or you break!)
TGIF lovies!!

Come Fly With Me {Antigua}

Let's Fly Away!!
I am pumped for our future beach vacation, but for now, I dream.
I am so lucky to have met {and married} a man
who loves to travel as much as I do.
There are many places we have not seen, but a lot that we have
and that we'd love to return to!
This week's Friday's Fancies is all about picking a place you want to travel to,
and dreaming up an outfit.
Out of all the places I could think of,
I really want to go back to one of our stops on our cruise last year:
Most beautiful beach I've laid eyes on.
We visited a beach called, "The Nest".
Everyone was so friendly, not pushy selling items or anything like that.
It was so chill.
Hubby and I rented a Jet Ski and played in the water.
We sipped on the tastiest Mango Margarita I have ever had.
We nibbled on fresh coconut shrimp.
I basked in the sunshine
while he explored the rocks.
It was so perfect.
The only downfall was we had to get back on the cruise ship!
I really hope to return to this beautiful little piece of heaven.
When I do, I'll wear this!
vacay
I am a huge fan of a bunch of jewelry
and a simple bikini.
Obviously, if I'm going in the water I wouldn't wear all of the jewels!
But it's fun for show.
I'd need a big fancy floppy hat to keep my fair skin
from frying in the sunshine!
I'd need big movie star sunglasses to protect my brown eyes.
A flashy beach bag is a true necessity!
It was so warm, nothin more than a sarong would be needed.
Even though I look outside the window and see snow,
I know that soon enough I'll be boarding a plane and
celebrating my sister's wedding on St. Thomas!
{I'm sure it will be beautiful too!}
For now, I'll keep working my behind out in
hopes that by the time vacation is here,
I'm in tip-top bikini-sporting shape!!
Have a fabulous Friday,
lovely readers!

Pink, Red, & a Song Stuck in my Head!

A little late to post, but I had a busy & fabulous day with the hubs!
We grabbed breakfast bagel sandwiches and then
We had to file our taxes {yay for money back!}
We ran some errands and enjoyed a sushi lunch.
I made pasta for dinner and we watched a dumb movie.
I laughed a little, but it was a Joe pick.
But I spent the whole day with Joe and he's feeling pretty good today, yay!
We don't have much planned for the weekend.
He has to work all day tomorrow and
I'm still working on him for a Sunday matinee of The Vow...
I'm currently lusting over red coats, red pants red shoes, a red clutch and
I'd love a perfect red lipstick for me as well.
I don't own any of those red items!!
Here were my week's picks for Pink and Red
Go link up with AV from {long distance loving}
And for the song that was stuck in my head all.day.long
{and probably will be in yours now too!}
You may remember me saying a few weeks ago, Joe was playing
a Wacka Flocka song on repeat...
Well, for some reason it grew on me and now I may or may not
bump it as I'm putting make-up on.
Don't hate.
Play it a few times, you'll find yourself singing along..
"Rain rain go away, that's what all the haters say."
:)

Spring Fever

I don't know about you, but I'm already wishing for Spring!!
It's been a long week here at Casa Delle Fave, and hubs is still recovering
{for those who have been reading...he's doing much better, but still not up to par}
Thinking Spring is exactly what I needed to do today!
I love creating outfits on Polyvore & sharing them on here.
I definitely want to add a few yellow dresses to my Spring/Summer wardrobe.
I think that yellow looks great with a tan, blonde hair, and some gold jewels!
I'm also loving the pop of dark purple with it as well.
I don't own a camel colored trench, but I think one needs to be hanging
in my closet ASAP!
I suppose I'm hoping for a really warm spring...
This outfit might be a tad more summerish, but that's alright.

LC Inspiration on Friday's Fancies

Very true; love it!

Happy Friday my lovelies!!
Few things to share with you today.
Last night the husband and I went to his parents house.
They make THE BEST homemade pizza.
I love it.
Joe loves it.
We get to drink some vino & have fun family time.
Perfection.
I know mom reads the blog, so here's shout-out--
{Thanks so much for the pizza & brownies.
I'm enjoying the coffee right now!!
Love you and I'm so luck to be your daughter-in-law.}
I also wanted to share with you, my lovely readers, the biggest dog I have ever met:
Ralphie.
He is about 200 pounds and he is the silliest & sweetest dog.
They adopted him a few years back and you can tell he's so happy with them!
Disregard my amazing fashion. Don't be jealous. :)
Speaking of fashion,
today I'm also linking up with AV {long distance loving}
Today's task was to be inspired.
I love Lauren Conrad's style.
My outfit:
I love the playful pop of a green clutch with the subtle black/cream combo.
The nail color was a fantastic touch,
as was the material of the pants.
I also adored the gold accents
I just love everything about this!
My inspiration came from this photo on Pinterest

We have an awesome weekend coming up!!
We are not staying in and doing nothing, woo hoo!
I can't wait to share our fun times with you soon.
Have a wonderful weekend.
GO 49ers!!

Best Foot Forward & Weekend plans!

Today we are putting our Best Foot Forward
2012.
Link up with AV {long distance loving}
I just love shoes.
Like most girls.
I couldn't just pick one pair to showcase today!
My absolute favorite pair that I own in real life,
are the Manolo Blahnik Sedaraby D’Orsay Pumps.
After many wedding "no's" I went out on a limb
and asked hubs through email {with picture}
if I could get these gems for our wedding day.
He actually said yes!
I really didn't spend a lot on my wedding dress,
and I could wear shoes again {dress, not so much}.
I still put them on from time to time.
The rest of the collection are my other "dream shoes"
that haven't come true.
Yet.
In other news, my husband has the whole weekend off and we are so excited!
Tonight we're going out to dinner with friends.
We'll catch up on our TV Shows.
He'll probably play Call of Duty for an obscene amount of time.
Hopefully we'll get to go on a long drive...
it's our favorite way to reconnect and talk.
Just him.
Me.
Good music.
An open road.
And enjoy the time together.
Have a great weekend lovely readers!
Up to anything fun?
BTW what are your dream shoes?
