Lake George {Day 3}

Ok, where was I?  haha I still want to capture our family vacation. Slow and steady wins the race, right?  I seriously wonder where all my time goes, but in reality two littles really take all of it.  Baby boy has got to be teething, so he isn't napping that well.  The usual 2 hours or so I would have to myself mid day is not happening, so I am just trying to roll with it.  By the time I get the kids down for bed, it's almost 8:30 and Joe comes home after 9 and we need to eat dinner. SO again, I have learned to do what I can, when I can, and be thankful for what I can accomplish.

Lake George Day 3--

Joe wanted to eat at this little diner he had eaten at before; there was a bit of a wait, so we patiently did so outside the door.  In honor of "shark week" bubs rocked his hat!

Diner food…yum!

After stuffing our faces we figured it'd be a good idea to walk off some of those calories.  We borrowed a friend's hiking backpack to carry Brooke.

It worked out pretty well!

Prospect Mountain

Our family selfie!

I love watching these two.

It wasn't too hot, but he was a trooper since we were kinda sweaty!

She just loved to climb!

Lake George is just gorgeous. I could look at it all day long.

It was the perfect vacation so we could stop and do this pretty much any place.

After our little mountain hike, we took a drive and ended up at Sacandaga Lake.  Both kids fell asleep, but then Brooke woke up so we got out and took in the fresh air.

I wish we had a cabin or something out there because it was so peaceful.

Picking daisies.

Later on we were getting hangry (ok, Brooke and I were) and my dad, stepmom and niece arrived. We ate an early dinner/late lunch and then grabbed ice cream at the A & W stand.

It's so sad because literally the week after we were there, this place caught fire and burned down!! it had ben there forever…I hope they can rebuild it.

After a quick swim with the girls, we headed up and I just was in awe over this sunsets. I mean, really.

Joe fell asleep early so I sipped on some vino and called it a day.

Thirty-Four {34}

Have you ever had one of those nights, or weekends, where you literally could re-live them over and over??  I was looking forward to my "birthday weekend" for awhile because my birthday actually fell on a Saturday and that to me, is the best day. I don't know why, but it's always been my favorite day.  I knew we had a big weekend full of fun, but I had NO idea that it was join to be as fun as it was!!

Friday came and we had our good friend's 40th birthday.  The four of us were going to go out for dinner at a nice place on the lake and I was excited to dress up.  I have been working out and really eating clean, so I felt like a million bucks when I go to put on my clothes and FEEL amazing!

Such goofballs.

Our sitter showed up a little early, so we just went right to our friends' house.  We relaxed on their adorable deck while they finished getting ready.  We were in NO rush!

For some reason he had a box of sunglasses, so we played around trying them on.  These were actually kind of cute!

They were so sweet and gifted me with some fabulous oils to cook with!

Forever friends.

Why we did the prom pose, I don't know.

Duck wings and oysters.  SO delish!

Needless to say, we had an amazing night and I was a little slow moving the next day.  I had to get up though, because my husband had a day planned for me!! All I knew was to drop the kids off at my dad's store at noon…and from there, he'd tell me what to do.  He gave me instructions to drive to 235 High Street, and this is where that led me:

It was beyond fancy! I have been to a few spas before, but this? WOW.  I felt like I was in Beverly Hills.  My tricky husband had booked an entire day of pampering.

This is my HOLY COW face.

The waiting area…tea, relaxing fire…

First up was a swedish massage….amazing!

Next was a facial---all organic products and my skin is still glowing.

Last but not least, a pedicure.  An organic agave pedi, to be exact.  I really didn't want to move…

But when I got home, he had spoiled me with some gorgeous roses and we were to get ready for our night out, just the two of us!

There were only a few tables up here on the rooftop restaurant, but somehow my hubby reserved us one!! We enjoyed our meal and the view outside.

Cheers!

Our city's skyline just after the sun set.

My "Birthday Cake" was actually cheese haha! We went down to the main floor restaurant, as they do not serve dessert up on the rooftop.  I really love bread & cheese & wine, so that is what I had for my dessert!  Joe had a deconstructed strawberry shortcake.  I couldn't eat all of it, but it was super tasty and just what I wanted.

After that we headed out for a little dancing.  We didn't stay out super late, but it was so fun to just be out and about on the town.

Sunday morning we got to sleep in a little bit, since there were no kids!  We got dressed, headed to brunch and then did a little shopping.  I did braids so the wind wouldn't completely wreck my hair in his car!

I am so in love with this dress from Haute Mama Mala.  It is so comfy and soft…and feminine!

I also LOVE my new Jack Rogers! My friend gave me a gift card to put towards a pair that I've been lusting after.  #perfection

Out of all the gifts, the best was the ability to spend time just the two of us. I really miss "us" time and it brings us right back to why we fell in love in the first place.  Our children wouldn't be here, if it weren't for us falling in love, and so we need to continue to make "us" a priority amongst all of the crazy/busy time that we are in right now.

I still think he *may* like taking pictures of the car more than of me….but that's ok! haha

We felt like we were away on vacation, even though we were just at a local mall!  It's funny how just being with the right person can make you feel that way.

We met my dad and step mom for a late lunch/early dinner so we could grab the kids.  The sushi came out on this crazy big boat thing--Brooke loved it!  She of course just wanted all the fruit.

I used to be scared about turning a year older, but now I really look forward to it. We have so many wonderful things in our lives to be grateful for and so much to enjoy in life.  I just know 34 is going to be just another fabulous year!! Just before my birthday, we got news that some land we put an offer in for, was accepted!  I have no pictures yet, but it's about 20 acres in a rural area…and a great school! So this means if all goes well, we will be BUILDING a house! How stinking awesome is that??  I am over the moon excited.
