Favorite Space {and place!}

My favorite space is currently our office.  It became the "catch-all" for quite some time and a place I'd just shut to door to, because I was constantly overwhelmed with clutter.  The mail piles up quickly if I let it, as do things that aren't used that often.

Why do I love my office? Well, although it may contradict itself, I also use it as a place to go and meditate, do some yoga, and just have as "my own."  In our family of four, every room is accounted for and this one just has to do double duty for me.

I have our wedding photos sprinkled around, because they make me so happy; it really was the happiest day of my life.  I also have my crystals, tibetan singing bowl, yoga mat and some essential oils at arm's length.

Next to my desk is a vision board. I only have one visual of our dream home, but I wrote out goals/dreams on post-its to look at and remind myself of "big dreams."

I love that there is a window and it probably has one of the most serene views of the house; no other houses can be seen or the school parking lot (until Winter, when the leaves are gone.)

It makes my yoga practice that much better when I can see outside like this!  I also have our aloe plant; I really want to add more plants to our home, but I have a very brown thumb.

My desk is not at all what I want. This hunk of junk, (no offense hubby!) is Joe's and has been here since before me and I don't even know how long?! It holds a printer (which I use) a monitor (which I don't) and I think it's kind of an eye sore.  The goal is to get a nice white desk, so that will be my next big purchase hopefully with my little blue Stella card!  I would also like a little bulletin board or something too, as I am starting to get lots of little stuff for Brooke's preschool and need a place to keep it all.  *Hence my messy stacks on the unused monitor!!  I'm just trying to not break the bank, knowing we'll be moving in 2 years anyway.

I did buy a little desk light from Target as the room can be a little dark.  I keep my journals/calendar here and really do a lot of Stella work, all of our bills and everything for our rental properties.

I also really enjoy writing my blog in here.  For me this little space has helped me become more myself.  I find solace in having a little area of my own where I can just let thoughts and dreams run wild, as well as earn a little extra income for my family!

I still have to say my favorite place would be our land. It's hard because I don't go there a lot, but it doesn't mean I don't think of it.  I dream of our new home, our yard where the kids will play and grow and our dogs will roam.  I envision a pool and nice deck to entertain friends in the Summer. I think of all of the meals I will cook in our new kitchen, overlooking the living room.  I cannot wait until I have my big closet and can hang up all of my things! And of course I love the 20 acres we can walk, ride around on the atv and just be one with nature.

What is your favorite space or place?

Happy Things

I'm really trying to focus on all of the positives, not that I don't always, but even more so right now.

I have my first in home social for KEEP on Friday, as long as things are staying the same... I'm excited to chat with some new ladies and spread some positivity.  I just love that new key fob in the stripes/coral--it may be on its way to me as we type. ;)

Saturday was so hot and sunny, I made sure to clean the deck off and enjoy it a bit.
It honestly felt really good to do my makeup and try to feel normal around here.

I call this our little oasis and tough I didn't get much planted, a few pops of color are really nice to see. My sister brought my mom back and we all sat outside for awhile and the kids played in the water table and we had a nice time, for what we're going through and all.

Sunday I brought the kids up to see Daddy briefly at the tent sale--the clown was there and they enjoyed seeing her.  Brooke wanted to be a doggy, imagine that! She loved it.

My Club W/ Winc arrived this morning!! I'm super impressed with all of the wine I've tried.  I hear the rosé is really good so that may be one of the firsts I open!  If you'd like to try a free $13 bottle, use this link and if you order 4 bottles, shipping is free! I think the prices are perfect for the types of wine they send. You can skip a month, but I'm not really sure why you'd want to. Haha

The sun is shining and we're just taking things one day at a time.  I think I need to go read some more of my book that has been neglected these last few weeks.   Have a good day!

Sunshine Wednesday

We've been working on counting.  She's got the "One, Two, Three" down.  Now for the rest...

A rainy day called for this little treat!
I made some banana almond flour muffins---pretty good! Recipe HERE.
I didn't bake them as long;mine were done at about 25 mins or so.

I snuck out to the library Tuesday night.  I told myself I would only buy leadership books; ones that will serve a purpose to read over and over or share with friends and family.  I really am making a greater effort to not spend money when we don't have to.  I was really excited when two newer books I was on the waiting list for, arrived!  I sure enjoyed quietly browsing as well. I picked up a few books for me to look at to help with Brooke.  I don't know everything; heck I barely know anything about being a mama! What I do know, is that I am always learning.  Walking into a library almost makes me feel dumb.  There is so much knowledge out there, and I just want to get my hands on it all!!

So far the Bright from the Start book is FAB!! It has cool little ideas to keep the little brain working and activities I didn't think of…and insights that sometimes you just need to be reminded of.  Great read!
{PS No judges on my reading selection!}

I splurged and bought myself some new Alex and Ani.  LOVE.

This girl has my heart, but eyes for Daddy!!  She just loves him so.

She's obsessed with the little magnetic pen/drawing board.

It was sunny and 47 today.  We swung for a few moments…

She went down the slide and tried to climb back up.

Of course she worked up an appetite and she enjoyed a muffin~

And Holly, Brooke and I had some silly time.

Today {Wednesday 4.8} has been a very good day.  I love our life and wouldn't trade anything in the world for all that we have.  Here's hoping that my crockpot dinner is amazing too! I'm trying AdvoRunner's Clean Peanut Thai Chicken!

New Deck Reveal!!

First of all, thank you all so much for the love from yesterday's post!
Clearly life has been a bit busy and full of new and exciting things...and we are ready for them all!
Before we knew we were expecting, we started the daunting task of fixing up our deck.
We knew it'd be costly and would take some time, but we are so glad we did it!
We started it back in March {I pinned about my dream decks here}
and now in June, it is finally complete!!
I am somewhat embarrassed to show how awful it looked before,
but I am so proud of what we've turned it into!
Here are the 'before' shots.
Keep in mind, the hot tub had NEVER worked in the last 4 1/2 years I have been here!
Goodness knows, when this house was a bachelor pad it worked...
and I'll leave it at that.
I had no desire to get it working again!!
I have wanted this eye sore outta my sight since I have moved in!!
Some before pictures...

Do you see how the dog sat on this over-sized picnic table?
We gave that to my in-laws who have lots of land out in the country,
and it will be much more useful out there!!
It was awful.
We never sat out there...
Whoever designed this old deck is nuts.
So unsafe--no railing, different steps here and there, odd shapes...
The whole thing was just bad, bad, bad.
There's that disgusting hot tub!
And it's outtt!
Work in progress...

There were three guys and they worked so hard.
We even had custom gates built to keep the dogs in.
Little did we know, it'd be handy for baby bean who was already on his/her way!
Hubs picked out a paint color and I was supposed to paint the spindles...
However, by that point, we found out painting was one task I could no longer do!
Here are some side by sides shots...
Just a little bit of a difference
And we finalized our deck on Friday with the purchases of a few patio sets...
This one is from Lowes

So comfy.
We decided to splurge on comfort,
{and we have both already fallen asleep on them!!}
for the lounge furniture.

And for our dining set, we scored a deal at Kmart.
We got this set 7 pc set for $300--and saved over $300 on it!!
We had friends over Saturday night, so we grilled...
and I got to decorate!
 Martini Lights
Even Sadie seems pretty content...
We are so happy to have this brand new "room" for our house!
It's nice because our trees cover most of the deck, so we don't need an umbrella.
The bugs do attack at night, so we're still working on that issue...any tips?
We have a few citronella candles (need more)
and some tiki torches (more of those?)
I cannot wait until next summer when we have a six month old to play with out there!
For now, I will sip my sparkling water out of a wine glass, with a splash of cranberry,
and enjoy the peace and quiet...and relax.
