Cleanse Day 3

Day 4 of my 10 Day Herbal Cleanse and going strong!{I am doing the whole 24 day challenge, but the first 10 is the 'cleanse portion'.}

 I will say day 3 was the most challenging for me. I have no idea why because Friday (day 2) we had a BBQ and there was certainly a ton of non-friendly cleanse food, and I didn't want any of it.  Yesterday? I was craving a grilled cheese sandwich and coffee.  None of which I am allowing myself.  I made a promise to myself to be super strict the first 10 days, like not even a bite of a cookie or chip.  Just no.  However, as I progress along the 24 day challenge, I could see myself having feta on a salad or something, but I really don't want to fall off the wagon!  I read other blogs about this challenge and a lot of them state how they always felt guilty for 'cheating'.  So, I'm really trying to stay focused!!

If you're wondering if I'm hungry, the answer is no!! I am super full and if I do get hungry, I eat!  That is one thing that is so great about this cleanse; you don't have to starve yourself.  I couldn't imagine only drinking my diet, or not putting anything in my system.  I am loving the schedule and the freedom to pick and choose my meals all day long!!

 My morning starts with a SPARK, and Cataylst, then days 1-3 the fiber drink (which again, isn't that awful in my opinion, I just drink it fast!) followed by breakfast.

Breakfast Day 3:  Egg & fruit.  Sometimes I add oatmeal if I'm extra hungry, but sometimes I just eat enough to feel satisfied.

I snack on carrots & hummus or a little fruit and some nuts. I am drinking a lot of water. If I question whether or not I'm drinking enough, I am probably not, so I drink more!

Lunch Day 3 was a leftover lean hamburger and a spinach salad.  I do use a little EVOO and Balsamic vinegar for dressing.

I'll snack a little again before dinner--edamame, fruit, nuts, whatever.

Then came my 3:00 coffee craving (and slump) so I decided to try my SLAM.  I offered a few to family to try (my brother in law loves it before his workout, said there was no crash afterwards, which he really liked!) and decided I should give it a shot myself!

I'll tell ya, if you are having a little bit of a sugar craving, this thing will kick it & give you energy to boot.  It was a powerful little thing, and I will definitely have another!  It's different tasting than Spark, and doesn't take as long to drink (obviously) so if you're looking for a quick pick-me-up, this is for you!!

Dinner Day 3:  My husband wanted to grill organic chicken wings, so I just had mine with a little sea salt. Not bad at all; actually quite good!

For my after dinner 'snack' I munched on fresh blueberries.

Thoughts:
More than anything, I feel like I am gaining control back over my eating habits.  I had no idea how often I was 'snacking' and mindlessly putting bad food into my mouth.  This is seriously helping me re-boot my brain and my body.  I want to be an honest and true healthy eater; and once this challenge is over, I think it will be easier to maintain it.  I'll certainly still eat foods that are not part of the cleanse, but I'll be sure to do it carefully and not all of the time.

I didn't think that I had a sugar addiction, but man I will tell you that I did.  Not having sugar these last few days, I feel different. It's kind of hard to explain, but I know that what I am doing is really, really good for me.  It makes you open your eyes and really evaluate how healthy you are or aren't being. There is nothing more rewarding than making a promise to yourself and actually sticking to it. I am so happy that I am making myself do this for me, and am proud of myself!

I just find it so cool to be able to say, I have not had anything processed in 3 whole days.  In today's world, that is such an accomplishment.  I have filled my body with nothing but the best whole, raw, organic, natural foods.  I am loving it.

I am also proud of my mom and Amanda who are doing it with me!! We got this ladies!!  I can't wait to see what the next few days bring us!!

  1. I totally understand how you feel because sugar was the hardest thing for me when I did Whole 30 and I had no idea I consumed that much! A good snack if you are craving chips or something: steamed edamame. So yummy! Great job girl - love reading your updates.

  2. I'm so proud of you too! You're rockin it, sister! Can't WAIT to hear about your results!! My fave thing is this is NOT a fad diet...it's a healthy lifestyle that you continue long after the 24 days. What an awesome example for miss Brookie & it feels good to take care of yourself! Loving the updates!
