Stay Healthy {recipe and holiday advice}

Now is the time to really take a good look at how you're treating yourself.  The holidays are here, things are getting busy, hectic and the temptation of food will be overwhelming.  It's easy to start off this time of year with a smile, but what if you made it a goal to keep it til New Years and beyond?  The choices we are making regarding our health, affect all of the decisions we will make.  It's a downward spiral, if you're not careful.

While I love a treat like the next person, our view of what is 'normal' is a bit skewed.  The holiday lattes are out and I heard on TV that a large egg nog something or other has over 700 hundred calories.  Say whaaaaaa???   That is just insane.  I get that we are going to want to indulge, but if you can just keep things in balance overall, life will stay easier to handle.  Promise.

Always remember the 80/20 rule.  Maybe some days you have time for that workout, eat well all day and get great sleep.  Others? You may skip the gym, be at a holiday party and indulge a little too much. Don't beat yourself up, but take a good look at your week as a whole; how many indulgences did you have?  Did you skip yoga more than you should have?  Really focus and be present in the moment.

You can have it all, just not all at once.  I love that phrase.  Trust me, there are times I still want to eat my feelings, but I know that a sugary overload is not the answer.  Go for a walk; read or listen to someone inspiring, have an apple with nut butter. That usually staves off temptation for me.

I also will drink a rehydrate (or if you need a little energy boost a Spark) and think ahead about how I treat my body at that moment, will either cause me to feel better or worse later on.

To kick off the holiday season, if you're looking to stay calm and not stress, a perfect product is

Oasis.  It's a better alternative to wine and the blueberry tastes delish warm or cold!

  • Helps your body adapt to physical and other sources of stress*
  • Contains a combination of super fruits known for their antioxidants, polyphenols and anti-inflammatory properties*
  • Provides immune and cognitive support*
  • Contains B vitamins for energy and immune support*
  • In a convenient stick pack

Slim  The apple pear taste helps curb those holiday cravings or get you through those "snacky" times between your meals when we tend to eat, 'just because' and not to really fuel our bodies.

  • Portable weight-management aid*
  • Supports appetite management*
  • Provides support for long-lasting energy*
  • Helps fight occasional drowsiness*
  • Works in conjunction with MNS® or as a stand-alone product*
  • Great-tasting Apple Pear flavor

Mix the two together for the perfect holiday combo--avoiding holiday weight gain and excess stress.

I've mentioned before my love of Coffeccino.  Why haven't I thought to mix it with a Meal Replacement Shake?! Holla!!  Perfect for breakfast on the go.  I firmly believe how you start your day will set the tone for the rest of the day.  If you're cramming donuts and big fat muffins in your mouth, you will probably not make the best food choices the rest of the day. (I know this because I've done this)

While the pumpkin shakes have sold OUT, be on the lookout for more holiday goodies!! If you know of anyone who could use a little extra energy, I would love to help!!

If you have someone on your list that is hard to buy for, or you simply want to thank someone, grab a box of these Gingerbread AdvoBars and see how happy you'll make them!!

These little balls of heaven.

I eyeballed everything, buuuut it was something like this:

3/4 cup organic peanut or almond butter
3 scoops of chocolate muscle gain protein
a few squeezes of honey
I topped them with a flake or two of coconut.

If I was feeling my sweet tooth comin on, I would have two of these and a piece of fruit. I kept them right in the fridge and was pretty good about not devouring them all right away!

I also made some Advo protein muffins, and while I am still eating them, they didn't turn out exactly how I would like…so I will tweak them a bit and get back to you.

I swear I've been so healthy since taking all of my vitamins and products since I started with AdvoCare.   Of course it has made me amp up my eating habits and eat way more leafy greens, veggies, fruits and lean proteins.  Fueling our bodies properly is half the battle!  Plus stress wears us down, so that's why it's crucial to:

-eat well
-supplement with highest quality vitamins
-get adequate sleep
-watch stress levels/anxiety
-stay active

When I was teaching, my immune system was terrible and I was always getting sick.  Even when I decided to stay home, I would still get knocked down with some awful bug.  If it's one thing I hate, it is being sick!! And mamas can't get sick because we never get sick days!!

Stay healthy friends!
