Let's Face It

So, ladies, what is it about the big three-OH?
I don't feel, 30 but my body is definitely different!
Those extra holiday Lbs are not budging like they used to.
My daily love affair with bread and my beloved morning bagels,
has sadly come to an end.
Egg white omlettes and fresh fruit please.
Aside from needing to tone up the triceps a bit more,
and up the ante on cardio/ab work,
my face is a changin'.
My skin is so different from 5 or 6 years ago.
I've been fortunate to have good skin,
it's never too dry or too oily.
However,
I feel like my pores have gotten much larger in the last year.
I'm starting to see more, gasp, wrinkles, and the skin around my eyes
just doesn't seem as tight and lifted.
I know, I am 30.
I'd like to think I'm embracing my age as best as I can, but I still want to have
"Young healthy looking skin."
If you don't follow Lauren Conrad's blog, you should!
She has tons of tips etc. on all aspects of life.
Her post here
inspired me to share some of my own healthy skin habits with you!
{I just want to make sure I give my girl LC credit!!}
Here's my list of what I try to do to achieve this!

  • Only drink water & lots of it (other than coffee or tea)
  • I eat lots of fruits and veggies
  • Stay away from fried foods
  • I try to not touch my face; it is gross to think all that our hands do touch!
  • Remove my makeup most days {working on this}
  • Take mutli-vitamins
  • Drink green tea
  • Trying to sleep on my back {I'm usually a side sleeper}
  •  Always wear sunglasses
  • Wear a hat in the sun
  • Wash every day with a milky/creamer cleanser
  • Use a deep pore cleanser every 3-4 days
  • Get professional facials at least twice {if not more} a year-[I really love the "Sonic Facial" where it seems to take a few years of your face!!]
  • Wear an SPF face lotion every day
  • Don't tug on skin near/around eye when applying lotions
  • Started using an eye cream
  • Use high quality makeup {such as Bare Escentuals}

Out of everything I've tried, my favorite face lotion by
Olay
This sensitive skin formula has NO SMELL!
It doesn't leave me feeling greasy or oily.

And for night time, I like their

I am a firm believer in this eye cream too.
I can totally see a difference.
I even put a dab in between my eye brows where
there is a slight crease forming.
It is a tad pricey, but again, how much is botox?

So, thanks to many b-e-a-utiful bloggy friends
and their gorgeous skin and wonderful recommendations,

{just to name a few}
I have officially ordered my very own
 Clarisonic facial cleanser,

I will definitely write up a review on it.
I hope it gets here soon!!
:)
I tried a facial mask from LUSH before and I loved it!
 It was a chocolate mint sample and I'd love to do it again.
So soft.
I remember when I was a teenager,
I read in my Seventeen magazine about an egg-white mask.
It turned from slime to stick and I don't think it did much
other than gross me out.
So I think I'll stick with some of these other natural DIYs!
I hope to implement a few of these!
Most of the DIY at home facials use simple
ingredients, such as:

What beauty tips do you have to share for your face?
Any certain products you'd recommend?
Leave a link with your blog post if you've already written something similar!!
I love finding new ways to rejuvenate my face...since Botox is not an option.
Yet.

  3. Great tips! I've never done a facial before (crazy, I Know) but I'd love to try. My face/skin is usually always dry so I'm constantly looking for tips. Definitely gotta watch the pulling skin when applying eye makeup. I'm so guilty of that haha.

  4. I don't ever use a face mask! I use a micro scrub twice a week and love it!

  5. I've only had one facial ever-- and it was on our honeymoon, because we had 'free' credits to use at our spa. It was HEAVEN. My 25th bday is next month so I'm thinking it might be time to treat myself to another professional one! ;)

  7. I use the Oil of Olay face regenerist too! I really like Aveeno's daily face moisturizer. It does the job without being too harsh on your skin!

  8. Yes! I am 28 and have started to take better care of my skin, too. I get facials pretty reg b/c I used to have terrible skin that was prone to breakouts. But one other thing I get regularly is microdermabrasion, have you ever? You have to get them after a facial (well w/in two weeks) so your pores are clean but it takes a layer of dead skin off and boosts collagen which is something we start to lose as we get older. They're a little pricey but I SWEAR by them!!

  9. OH, I DEFINITELY don't feel 30. Not one bit...

    I use the Oil of Olay moisturizer in the morning and then I used Cetaphil moisturizing cream at night. In the summer I use just Oil of Olay because the Cetaphil is too much. Moisturizing well is key for my skin!

  10. You will love your clarisonic! It was by far the best money I have spent on something for my skin! I can def tell a difference when I use it, I just love it!! Love the list of things you try to do! I used it as a checklist kinda as I read it to see if there were things I should work on! HOpe your having a lovely day!

  11. I bought the Olay version of the Clarisonic. It works great too. I have seen a total difference myself.

  12. I use Clinique DDML morning and night and I love it! I use Laura Mercier face polish with my clairsonic and I always take my makeup off at night with Neutrogena wipes. I have never had a facial and I really want to start taking better care of my skin so I will look into all the different kinds, it's so overwhelming! You have great tips!

  13. I love LC! I'd trust anything that she says. I'm totally terrified of turning 30 this year but I'm with you on the skin thing. Pretty blessed with good skin in my 20s. Mom is 64 and doesn't have wrinkles at all. No kidding! Hopefully I've got good genes. Can you just come to Philly and we can have masks and soy lattes :)

  15. I've been thinking of getting an eye cream too. I'll be 30 this year and I'm not happy about it. I've also thought about getting a facial, I heard they are the best. Thanks for the advice girl!

  16. LOVE this post. Such good advice! Your blog is fabulous!

  17. Such great tips! Also, if you rub your moisturizer and lotion into your face in an upward fashion it helps fight sagging skin :)

  18. I actually like being in my 30s better than my 20s. The acne that plagued me since middle school is finally calming down. Some days I don't even need makeup.

    You're so right about having to change your diet as you age (it's so cruel though!). I can't eat bread like I used to anymore. I'm also cutting back on caffeine. I'm growing my hair out too because it makes me feel younger/fresher.

    Great tips! Remember, you're only as old as you feel, so have FUN!
