Planning, Motivation, & a Cleaning Schedule!

I have been using my EC Planner like crazy!
If you don't have one, you need one.
People think I don't need one since I, "Don't have a job."
Right.
I like to write down, in several different spots,
Dr appts.
Dentist.
Doggie vaccinations.
Hair appointments.
Acupuncture.
Lunch dates.
Dinner Dates.
Vacations.
Meals.
Nail appointments.
Girls nights.
Events.
Shows.
Schedules!
I LOVE TO PLAN!
I seriously am a planner to a fault.
Sometimes, when I plan too much, and something goes wrong,
I freak out.
{I'm working on that.}
So Thanks to my Happy Housewives book, by Darla Shine,
I now have a set cleaning schedule.
It's much like working out; if I schedule it and set aside time, it gets done.
Monday: Vacuum & mop downstairs
Wipe down kitchen appliances
Clean out fridge (throw away leftovers/check for spillages)
Dust downstairs
Tuesday: Bathrooms
Change bed sheets
Wednesday: Pick up my closet/guest room
Vacuum/Dust upstairs
Thursday: Stock up on groceries
Vacuum & quick mop if needed
Friday: Water the plants
Saturday: Catch up on laundry if needed
Wash throw rugs
Clean windows
Sunday: Relax with my hubby
EVERYDAY:
-run a load of laundry
-get mail/sort it/pay bills if needed
-wipe down kitchen counters
-dishes/dishwasher
-brush Sadie
-run the ROOMBA in the living room
-straighten up living room
-make the bed
-take the garbage out
-walk the dogs--I have to get better about this!
I am awesome in the warm weather but anything under 40 just sucks walking in.
I'm a summer girl.
Not a snow bunny.
Sometimes I can get away with going a day without doing one of those,
but I quickly get backed up.
I'm hoping if I have a stellar system in place,
once there's a baby, I can just modify it.
Of course there are daily errands and things
hubs asks me to do,
but if you keep up with a schedule, life is so much easier.
I have adapted a few new philosophies too:
JUST DO SOMETHING.
Examples:
Even if I cannot write a huge long blog post, I will post something.
If I cannot work out an hour, I will at least walk the dogs 10 minutes.
If YOU THINK ABOUT IT, DO IT.
I am not going to procrastinate. If it's on my mind, it will get done.
So far, this has been working just great!!
AUDIO BOOKS
-currently listening to: Reinventing Yourself by Steve Chandler
Getting Things Done by David Allen
It's a great way to motivate yourself while cleaning the house/doing chores.
Music and tv get so boring after awhile.
Stimulate your mind!
In fact, I'm going to the library today to renew my card since it expired.
I don't want to pay $$ for audiobooks when we can rent them for free!
Any other motivational books out there to listen to?
Here's one that was on TV last night...
He's good too.
Watch Dr. Wayne Dyer Wishes Fulfilled | Preview on PBS. See more from pbs.

  2. Love this post. I am a list-maker and planner also! Definitely need to incorporate a cleaning schedule as well so I'm not so overwhelmed on the weekends...when I should be having fun :)

  3. Oh my gosh, with every post you seem more and more like a long-lost sister! I just got an Erin Condren planner too, and it changed my life. People are idiots if they think you don't need to plan because you "don't have a job" and you clearly show that you do more work than most career girls.

I just watched the Wayne Dyer special on PBS too. Love him! I can't wait to read Wishes Fulfilled.

  4. My mom used to always say that quote to me when I was younger! Ah the memories! I hope your day is going well!

  5. OMG! I have an EC planner too and love it. My husband is always making fun of me because I write down every single little thing, besides my planner I actually have a BINDER I have dedicated to lists, menu planning, lunch planning, DIY projects etc. I feel like I'm lost if I don't plan everything! We sound so much alike. I'm totally a summer girl and not a fan of snow. Only around Christmas time :)

By the way I'm totally blog stalking and stumbled across your blog. SO GLAD I did! I'm excited to be a new follower *xo*

  6. I use a planner the same way you do. I put vacuuming and dusting on there and check it once completed; or I line through it and move it to another day.

    Love this.

  7. Girl, I love a list. I once put on a to do list "break up with boyfriend". I mean, I'm forgetful and I like to cross things off. and that quote you used is my dad's all time favorite. Along with "yes I have a truck, no I won't help you move." Anyway...I love your cleaning schedule. I am on a mission to get my shiz together so I can let our housekeeper go. I don't know why it bothers me, I feel challenged now that we have her, like I have to try and prove I can do it. I am strange. But you knew that.

  8. Wow- what a great plan! I LOVE to plan and organize too, but have yet to settle into any kindof household cleaning routine. I just do things when they need done, but I'd love to have the system you're implementing!

Audio books sound like a great idea too-- I've never thought to do that instead of cranking up the tunes!!
